- Places
These are photos of places I thought I'd share.
Enjoy!
Helsinki's downtown Esplande
- The walk along
Helsinki's public esplanade. Taken during August 2002.

Colorado Restaurant on
Unionkaatu in Helsinki, Finland -
There are many long stories that can be told about the
restaurant Colorado and its proprietor, Markus Selin. I'll
tell only one: My friend Brad and I lost his cell phone there
to a nail on the wall, and we left having nailed the place's
door shut at around one in the morning.

Aarhus Arts Center -
A view of the Aarhus Arts Center, where I gave a talk in 2002
at a Danish Music Festival.

Butler House, Kilkenny,
Ireland -
A view from the facility's dining room into the courtyard in
May 2002.

Butler House, Kilkenny,
Ireland -
A view of the courtyard from a room at Butler House.

Nathan Road -
A downtown Hong Kong street on a weekday afternoon (November
2000).

Yuen Po Street -
Near the bird market there is this small urban neighborhood
street (November 2000).

China Lays Cable -
Wireless dominates in China, to be sure, but in downtown Hong
Kong they're laying cable infrastructure everywhere, as in
this photo (November 2000).

China Street Market
- A busy market on a weekday afternoon in China, where vendors
hawk everything from cell phones to clothes (November 2000).

VCD Rules The World
- The medium is the message. The world created its own video
format, VCD, by burning video onto standard compact discs. Now
it dominates despite being ignored by the major entertainment
studios (November 2000).

VCD Take Two
- In China, the media market appears divided between wireless
phones, cassettes and VCD (November 2000).

Yuen Po Bird Market
- A bird market, chock full of birds of all sizes and types,
creating a cacophony of beautiful sound that envelopes the
scene (November 2000).

Bird Food
- The Yuen Po bird market naturally supports a lively trade in
bird food, which includes seeds and especially live crickets
and grasshoppers (November 2000).

Savonlinna Opera House -
The opera house at Savonlinna
in Finland (constructed in the 1400's, this photo from July
2000) is considered one of the world's greatest buildings.

Jeremiah at the Glass Palace
- Jeremiah across from the
Laasipalatsi (Glass Palace), a media center and island of
public internet connectivity in Downtown Helsinki (August
1999).

Kiasma - The hallways between galleries
at Kiasma, an art museum in Helsinki (November 1999).

Peter Arnell's Office View - Here's a photo through the
windows of Peter's Manhattan office at the corner of Prince
and Wooster, a view that appears more like paintings on a wall
than windows.

Peter's Office - Peter is a study in contrasts.
Turnaround, you may get an entirely different view. The
flipside of his office view.

Amsterdam - A bridge over a canal in
central Amsterdam as seen from Regina and Yoshi Joseph's
second-floor window on Herengracht (August 1999).

St. Patrick's Day in
Kilkenny - A group of
bagpipe players on a Kilkenny street during the 2002 St.
Patrick's Day parade.

Kilkenny Street -
Ireland's past walks a Kilkenny Street while the future skips
down a side lane in the picture taken in May 2002.

Denmark Lays Cable -
The developed countries lay cable while wireless takes the
rest.

Aarhus Streets -
In May 2002 I visited Denmark, including Aarhus, a university
city in the west.

Aarhus Markets - A
flower vendor at an Aarhus market.
